COMMON SENSES - 2 MONOLOGUES + 1 LECTURE

Last November, the seventh edition of the monologue festival took place at TD Berlin under the title COMMON SENSES, which featured a total of eight solo premieres. COMMON SENSES can be translated as "Common Sense" as well as "Common Interests" and in our time of agitated debates, we probably need both. The monologues reflect the status quo of our social coexistence. Hamburg audiences can now experience a selection of the solo programs live at the LICHTHOF spin-off.

LIE WITH ME | Glossy Pain

The solo performance LIE WITH ME searches for new ways of understanding and is an invitation to get into bed with each other, to be vulnerable and to explore the common senses that determine our desires. Glossy Pain draws attention to the lies, legends and narratives that shape our sex lives.

Inspired by critical thinkers such as Katherine Angel and Emilia Roig, Glossy Pain asks: How can we be soft and tender with each other when the world around us constantly demands hardness? We seek intimacy, get naked, strive for common ground. It is not uncommon for us to fail. This is also because contradictions creep into our honesty with each other.

The solo questions how much of our shared experience is based on "necessary lies". How can we expect others to be honest if we are not even honest with ourselves? In the search for understanding and connection, it is important to explore new languages of love that do not already dictate who we have to be, but who we can still become.

MIR GEHT'S JA NOCH GOLD | Elegance from Reflex

Marianne Hoppe flirted with the KPD of the Weimar Republic. She sat in the movies with Göring, Goebbels and Hitler and remained a figurehead of state-supporting art after 1945. How does she explain this? And us? Elegance by Reflex explores irritating paths of justification along emotional worlds and German sensitivities.

The AfD is on the rise and more and more people feel comfortable with it. Eleganz aus Reflex takes the Europe-wide rise of right-wing nationalist politics as an opportunity to examine a dangerously changeable image of humanity and German certainties in conjunction with continuities of homophobia, anti-Semitism and racism.

The evening will be hosted by an acting icon who, for a century, has adapted herself and her outlook on life to all political camps and times and to ever-changing social constellations and conventions. Her life from 1909-2002 reflects a century of German history. And the astonishing ability not to see herself as the cause of obvious evil. This historical figure turns the opportunism of emotions into a highly topical question. Are they the ones who shield their own self-image from moral demands?

Climate activism targeted by right-wing campaigns | Lecture by Arne Vogelgesang

The AfD not only sits in parliaments, but also stands anxiously in the forest. While the activist ecology movement in German-speaking countries is currently largely progressive, the political right is reacting with campaigns and attacks and trying to occupy the topic for itself.

The lecture reports on selected examples from recent years: violence against activists, false flag attacks and attempts to conquer political terrain. They illustrate a parallel development of two strategies: on the one hand, physical or digital violence against activists to intimidate them, and on the other, the co-optation of local concerns to pursue ideological land grabs in the ecological field.

Arne Vogelgesang, who has been dealing with political propaganda on the Internet for many years, also looks at future dangers that could arise in response to technological accelerationism: radical "back to nature" programs, eco-fascism and "eco-extremism".

The lecture will last approx. 60 minutes.
