Vernissage - Artist of the season I/25
We are delighted to present the work of media artist Lisa Kirchhoff in connection with our season motto Commitment:
The video work "Who can I be if I am not a tree" deconstructs the boundaries between humans, nature and technology. It raises the question of identity in a post-humanist age and the acute threat posed by our limited anthropocentric view of the world.
"It's about where we locate ourselves as humans in this relationship, how do we "commit" ourselves as humans to a threatened ecosystem and an exploited nature, what commitment do we make and what commitment do we not make. And, of course, what does commitment mean in relation to feminist positions?" Lisa Kirchhoff
Lisa Kirchhoff is a media artist whose video works and installations revolve around post-natural considerations and associated questions about identity and the body - be it the carnal, the digital or the social body - as well as the questioning of power relations. Based on a feminist view of existing systems, she critically examines them: in an artistic approach, an attempt is made to rethink - nature, the body, the anthropocentric view.
