Lisa Klosterkötter: »Unter der Markise«
In the organizer's words:
An artistic celebration featuring games, food, and a performance by and with children from Gelsenkirchen in the museum garden. Artistically designed and curated by Citra Amongsari, Paula Erstmann, Anne Meerpohl, Jasmine Parsley, and Philipp Joy Reinhardt.
In collaboration with the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen, the Kunststiftung NRW Art Prize—the Nam June Paik Award 2026—will be presented to the artist Michael Beutler (*1976, lives and works in Berlin and Aachen). The internationally renowned prize is endowed with 25,000 euros.
As part of the art prize, a support award will also be presented. It goes to the artist and curator Lisa Klosterkötter (b. 1990, lives and works in Cologne). For the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen, she is developing the multi-part exhibition and event series “Ein Dorf” (A Village), which explores forms of community, neighborhood, and public coexistence. Readings, artistic interventions, and performative formats—both indoors and outdoors—draw on the museum’s self-image as a place for reflection and experience.
