Lisa Lehnhoff @ Live Music Session

Lisa Lehnhoff is 24 years old and originally from Guatemala. She loves to perform and street music has had a particularly strong influence on her career. She has even financed a musical summer trip through Europe virtually on the spot (see video). Full of confidence, she sings and accompanies herself on the guitar.

From Guatemala to Stuttgart

She grew up in Guatemala in a family of five. After the early death of her father, the family experienced financial hardship and Lisa also had to struggle socially and academically at school. She says today that she has always loved music. As she also had German citizenship from birth, she planned to go abroad early on and moved to Switzerland after finishing school, where she earned her living as a waitress. She also met her first love there: "[...] that didn't work out," she says with a laugh, "but it certainly taught me a lot."

Her path led her to Stuttgart, where she worked in a spa after training as a beautician. But her dream wouldn't let her go: "[] I thought that this would be the rest of my life. I had always been afraid to pursue my dream. I realized that fear is what always holds you back." She told herself, "I'm 22 years old, way too young to give up. I would rather live with 'I tried and failed' instead of 'what if I had tried'. Because I've always loved singing, I knew I was born to perform." No sooner said than done: she applied to a school for musical performers, went to the audition - and was accepted. She was taught a lot there and emphasizes how grateful she is for everything. But she also says quite openly that it is not easy in the industry and that you are treated very "tough". She began to lose faith in herself again, but then she decided to make street music. A game changer!

"That changed my life. It wasn't easy, but it made me grow a lot."
As an "overthinker", she initially expected negative reactions. But instead they were all positive! So she kept going and believed in herself more. "I learned that the only person who should believe in you is yourself!!! And that not only helped me personally, but also financially." Lisa Lehnhoff had always wanted to take a summer trip through Europe, but she didn't have the money. That's when she came up with the idea of making street music on her trip. "In the summer of 2025, I did a short tour from Stuttgart to Lyon, Nice, Barcelona, Sardinia, Genoa and then back to Stuttgart. "Not only did that show me a lot, I also met a lot of great people, made new contacts and, as always, gained a lot more confidence!"

Her music

Lisa describes her music as a mixture of R&B, pop and soul. She finds inspiration in greats such as Aaliyah, Lauriyn Hill, Britney Spears, Shakira or Janet and Michael Jackson.

When she gets the opportunity to sing, she is ready, whether on stage, on the street or - as she says with a laugh - in her own room. She describes her thoughts on this as follows: "As if everything around me stops, all worries are gone, for me this is not just music, but also healing and I love being able to share this with others." The situation in her native country also keeps her going. "I come from Guatemala, a poor country. One of my biggest dreams would be to open a school that people could attend for free. So that people who would otherwise have no chance of attending school could do so.
