Literaturklub: Zurichtungen | mit Charlotte Werndt, Georg Smirnov und Christoph Danne
This time we are presenting three new poems in the literature club. "You want the pride? / Then the anger is mine", writes Frankfurt poet Charlotte Werndt in one of her political poems from the volume Brustkasten (parasitenpresse). Georg Smirnov reports on the manipulations (Rimbaud Verlag) of an Eastern European migration story and Christoph Danne takes us to the Basque Country in Firnis & Revolte (Corvinus Presse). Adrian Kasnitz moderates.
Charlotte Werndt writes, photographs, translates and teaches. She has mopped floors and counters, sold brushes and beer, written for lawyers and PR consultants; none of it for free. She first studied empirical linguistics and English language and literature and is now studying English and philosophy to become a teacher at Goethe University. She enjoys living in Frankfurt am Main.
Georg Smirnov was born in Kineschma, Russia, in 1981. Earlychildhood in Tokmak, Kyrgyzstan. Moved to Germany at the age of eight. There he lived in Hückelhoven, Heinsberg district, until he finished school. Vocational training as a specialist for media and information services at Deutsche Welle in Bonn. Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and German Studies, Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. Master of Arts in Eastern European Studies at the Free University of Berlin with a thesis on the Stalinist concept of the New Man. Several years of documentary work for Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb). Since 2015 he has been working full-time as a documentary journalist in Cologne, specializing in the history of National Socialism. He has not yet made a literary appearance, but his poetry debut "Zurichtungen" was published by Rimbaud Verlag in Aachen in April 2024.
Christoph Danne, *1976 in Bonn, studied German language and literature in Salamanca, Berlin and Cologne. Winner of the Literatur-Atelier Köln workshop prize in 2013 and postpoetry.NRW prize winner in 2014, in 2019 he received the NRW working scholarship for literature. Organizer of the poetry reading stage HELLOPOETRY!, with the Cologne Literaturhaus he curates the poetry festival Satelliten and with the bookstore Bittner the poetry festival Anderland. Various publications as co-founder of tauland-verlag. Danne's texts have been translated into Arabic and Spanish, set to music and staged. Ten volumes of poetry have been published to date, most recently Gute Neuigkeiten (edition virgines, 2023) and Firnis & Revolte (Corvinus Presse). Christoph Danne lives in Cologne.
