Live: Görda – Zwischen Poesie und Groove (JazzPopIndieElectroSingerSongwriterAmbientSoul aus Leipzig)

In the organizer's words:

"Everything is almost the same as always - with the side effect: you're standing next to me in the hallway - and you've never been further away."

Görda is the duo of musicians Sophia Günst and Annelie Weißel. Their sound combines introverted indie pop with danceable grooves, clever lyrics with atmospheric depth. They met at school in the far north, but wrote their first songs on the other side of the world: as street musicians in New Zealand, where they lived in a car and invented the story of Görda, the goose. One that always moves on when it gets cold feet - a symbol of the musical journey of the two. Now at home in a band flat-share in Leipzig, they refined their sound between home studio, kitchen and balcony. Their joint songwriting revolves around identity, interpersonal confusion and social dreams. Voice, electric bass, cello, flute, synthesizer and beats merge into intoxicating soundscapes.

Görda's live performances are intense interplay and spontaneous dialog, their music poetic and full of energy. In 2025, they will be supported by the Initiative Musik, and in 2022 they already won several prizes in the Local Heroes national final.

Press reviews praise their special sound aesthetics and poetic depth:

"When music and poetry come together like this, an evening becomes a happy coincidence."

Dresdner Neueste Nachrichten

"German pop is not a new invention. But bands that mix a lively indie sound with electro beats, enchanting vocals and witty language? They are! Like Sophia and Annelie from Görda or the Berlin singer Dilla. The perfect summer foretaste!"

ELLE, May 2025

"Görda are unconventional, in love with detail and go their own way away from the format radio sounds. A highly enjoyable insider tip of the German-speaking music scene."

sounds & books March 2025

"Görda mix a cocktail of dreamy indie pop and cool beats, which comes to full bloom in their mysterious and hypnotizing single "Innen Ist Dicht"."

Music blog March 2025

"[...] electric bass, cello, flute, jazz vocals, a bit of beatboxing here and there, electronic

effects and a loop station [...] But Görda don't let you be intimidated by the fact that they play all this live as a duo, because these different timbres flow alongside and into each other in a sound that you can hear its cleverness, but which never lets it hang out; which you can hear the musicians' studied background, but which is accessible - in love with their own melodies and always danceable thanks to the loop station. In other words: when the flute flirts, it flirts virtuosically, but to the benefit of the cause. Studies or not, the vibe is the heart of the matter here. [...] In addition, Görda's multi-layered, warm soundscapes sometimes develop a psychedelic quality. [...] Görda are already quite a lot and can still become quite a lot."

Kay Schier, Kreuzer Leipzig, December 2020

"But first Annelie Weißel (flute, bass) and Sophia Günst (vocals, keys and cello) as "Görda" delighted the audience with a captivating sound aesthetic and songs between soul, lounge, easy beat and ambient. The young musicians loop chords, runs or vocal lines live and weave them into a harmonious, highly fluffy carpet of sound. Impressive."
