In the organizer's words:
They survived the pastel-sounding steel bath of the 80s and the dance-pop hell of the 90s unscathed. The extinction of rough edges in rock and pop music since 2000 still caused some irritation. But the auto-tune hit parade of the current decade is simply ignored.
Can a small music collective from the Ruhr region do that? Yes, of course! As long as the music, their own songs and the fun come first and not the goal of becoming rich and sexy.
No, then The Liquid Service could have toured the clubs and pubs as a cover band. Instead, the four musicians from Essen, Duisburg and Mülheim meet regularly to work on their own songs in a classic line-up.
You could place their style somewhere between 70s songwriter pop and melodic rock from the 80s and 90s. But you don't have to. It's best to listen for yourself and attend one of the traditionalists' sporadic concerts.
