22 citrus fruits. A chain letter in Danish. The livestream of a funeral. With meticulous details and a dry sense of humor that flashes up again and again, the Berlin-based lo-fi trio Matching Outfits tells of disintegrating friendships, the loss of loved ones and unbridgeable distances, oscillating between childhood and adulthood, summer and winter, Germany and rural Sweden. Singer, keyboardist and saxophonist Linnea Mårtensson (previously one half of the duo Featherweights) forms the heart of the international band. Together with Rachel Glassberg (drums/guitar) and Leah Corper (bass), she combines wistful indie pop with a playful DIY ethos. Call-and-response vocals in the most beautiful three-part harmony, sing-along choruses or solo excursions on the saxophone - whether on their debut album "Band Made Out of Sand" (release date: 21.9.22, Kitchen Leg Records) or at live concerts, Matching Outfits are always good for a surprise!

Matching Outfits are a trio of adopted Berliners whose warped, wistful take on indie pop has been compared to "a Super 8 film from the family attic". Singer Linnea Mårtensson's lyrics capture life's major losses and minor inconveniences in gut-wrenching, occasionally hilarious detail, while dulcet harmonies morph into discordant freakouts and shout-along choruses. Their debut cassette 'Band Made Out Of Sand' caught the attention of cult radio station WFMU as well as New Jersey label Bar/None (Yo La Tengo, The Feelies), which signed the band and released their sophomore album 'Ditch Me' on July 25th 2025. The band does not wear matching outfits, except when they do.
