Straddling the line between power and the realm of possibility, the LOCALIZE Festival opens the old state parliament building on Brauhausberg to art and culture. THE POWER OF LOVE breaks down the architecture of power that towers over the city—raising questions about the future of a different, equitable way of living together and the potential of love as a political practice.
A center of control and order is to be transformed into a campus for public engagement and education. But how does a place of separation become a space for encounter?
Our present is shaped by forces that erode community: economic pressure, structural inequality, and entrenched power dynamics. In contrast, there are practices that aim not at domination but at connection. LOCALIZE seeks to explore the power inherent in the collective and the potential that lies in understanding power as authority over one’s own actions. What scope for action does the “Power of Love” offer for individuals, for the city, and for our engagement with space?
We invite you to open the state parliament as a temporary experimental space for love and are seeking artistic projects that engage with the future of this place and that of our society.
