And history proved him right: one year later, Eugene Ormandy and his Philadelphia Orchestra premiered the work with colossal success. Today, Barber's violin concerto is one of the most popular solo concertos of the 20th century - and under the baton of Dutch violinist Janine Jansen in Düsseldorf, it promises musical goosebumps.
