David is young and has served his sentence. After his time in prison, a new beginning begins between a hostel, a new job and old acquaintances. The blurriness of life is reflected in the images that capture the young man in his search for a secure future. A stoic anti-hero drifts through the fragments of his existence in a film that confronts an inhospitable world with great tenderness.

The costumed creature remains invisible. The battle of the humans, armed with turnips, is now directed against each other. In real time and slow motion, we see streets, fights and a traditional ritual in an unreal modern age.

About the film series

Looking Back to the Present
From November 14 to December 19, 2025, we will transform our historic hall in the former E-Werk into a venue for film events. Current festival films, historical works and experimental short films will be shown - accompanied by guests such as the musician Sky Deep or the filmmakers Ulrike Ottinger and Julian Radlmaier. The series combines the present and film history and invites you to experience the Kinemathek as a place of exchange in a new way.
