The Visit Revisited - Anniversary Tour
For over three decades, Canadian artist LOREENA MCKENNITT has explored the many aspects of Celtic music. Seemingly effortlessly, she combines instrumental and vocal perfection and emotion to create a sonic costume that enchants the listener. The passionate globetrotter will present herself on a European tour in spring 2024. From March 07 to April 05, the performer will come to Germany and Austria with her "The Visit Revisited Tour".
LOREENA MCKENNITT will be accompanied on this concert tour by four of her long-time companions: Caroline Lavelle (cello), Brian Hughes (guitar), Hugh Marsh (violin) and Dudley Phillips (bass). The focus is on her internationally acclaimed album "The Visit", released in 1991. With it, she attracted the attention of the music world, which she has maintained for decades.
Her acclaimed performances are composed of music and narratives inspired by LOREENA MCKENNITT's exotic tracing of Celtic history. For example, songs are combined with mystical Irish poems by Yeats and Keats, as well as texts by classic writers such as Shakespeare and Tennyson. Intimacy interwoven with personal, inspirational narratives characterize LOREENA MCKENNITT's concerts. Trademarks are and remain her crystal clear soprano voice and her versatility as an instrumentalist on harp, piano and bandonion.
It's been four years since her last European tour, and LOREENA MCKENNITT has received many inquiries from European fans about when she would return? "So much has happened since 2019. It will be wonderful to perform in Europe in the spring and see so many familiar faces that we missed during these turbulent times," commented LOREENA MCKENNITT.
LOREENA MCKENNITT's eclectic, Celtic blend of pop, folk and world music has sold over 14 million albums worldwide, more than 1.6 million of them in Germany. An amazing triumph of musical poetry. Her recordings achieved gold, platinum and multiplatinum status in 15 countries on four continents. She was a two-time Grammy nominee and has won two Canadian Juno Awards and the Billboard International Achievement Award.
As a musical ambassador, she represented Canada around the world, writing film scores and performing within countless meaningful festivals. In 1985, she produced her first album with her savings and started her own record label. Since then, she has been one of the few truly independent artists to make her own decisions about song selection, production, design and distribution of her material.
