Los Pirañas: Psychedelic tropical noise

Los Pirañas is an international instrumental supergroup that has been pushing the boundaries of Latin American tropical music for some time now. The band represents the psychedelic sound of contemporary Colombia and is at the forefront of the revival of the Colombian music scene.

For almost 30 years, Eblis Alvarez (Meridian Brothers), Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero, Ondatropica) and Pedro Ojeda (Romperayo) have been putting their eccentric stamp on Latin American styles such as vallenato, Peruvian chicha and Colombian champeta.
Los Pirañas combine these styles with a rock attitude, loud improvisations and absurd musical humor. Think Captain Beefheart in an exotic mood. Completely crazy, but at the same time very danceable and entertaining.

Their European tours have already catapulted them to some great festivals, such as Roskilde, where they rocked a crowd of 10,000 people, Druga Godba in Ljubljana and Best Kept Secret in the Netherlands.
Their latest album, Historia Natural, was released on Glitterbeat in October 2019, just before Corona hit. In 2022, the band finally toured Europe again, after which they took some time out to be active in other projects.
But there is good news: Los Pirañas are working on new material. We are already looking forward to the album and the accompanying tour.
