LÜBECK | One-Day Choir | "This Is Me" - The Greatest Showman
In the organizer's words:
We look forward to singing with you at the next One-Day Choir in Lübeck.
WHAT IS A ONE-DAY CHOIR?
A One-Day Choir offers the opportunity to be part of a choir for a single day—we celebrate singing and the unifying power of harmonies. It’s a chance to build community, make new friends, and unite our diverse voices into a single sound.
Everyone is welcome. No prior experience required. No concert. No need for perfection.
Just sing together in harmony with others in a room and create something greater!
Whether you’ve been singing in vocal ensembles for many years or are singing in a group for the first time—you’re welcome here. All levels of experience are valued and taken into account.
OUR SONG THIS TIME
We’ll be singing “This Is Me” from the movie “The Greatest Showman” (2017), originally performed by Keala Settle as “Bearded Lady” Lettie Lutz. The song is about no longer hiding and standing up for who you are, no matter what others may think. In a choir, this message takes on a whole new weight when many voices come together to support it.
The One-Day Choir is led by Sarah Sieprath, who has prepared an arrangement that’s both accessible and impactful. With no pressure to perform—just the pure joy of singing together—we’ll quickly create a musical experience that brings us together and leaves a lasting impression.
Everyone is welcome—no prior experience necessary. Just come, sing along, and become part of the sound.
LEARNING THE SONG
Sheet music and vocal tracks for each part will be available before the event as study materials. If you have the time and interest, feel free to take a look and listen to the vocal tracks and the original song so we can work on the music together on the day of the event. It’s not at all necessary to know everything by heart (and you definitely don’t have to memorize the song!), but the more confident we are with our parts, the more fun we can have together!
LED AND GUIDED BY:
This session will be led by our choir director, Sarah Sieprath!
Sarah Sieprath (she/her) is a singer, choir director, singer-songwriter, and music educator. She earned a master’s degree in “Music Education” from the Lübeck University of Music and has been working as a freelance singer and choir director ever since. She has been performing regularly with her vocal band, Vox Mandala, since 2018 and has shared the stage with the renowned King’s Singers, among others. In her artistic and educational work, the joy of making music together is at the center of her approach. Sarah knows how to create inspiring spaces for singing together, self-expression, and connection through creative ideas and an open approach to music and people. She is very much looking forward to leading various One-Day Choir events this year and fostering a musical community.

THE MISSION OF THE ONE-DAY CHOIR COLLECTIVE
The One-Day Choir Collective is a creative, Germany-wide community of people who love to sing. Our mission is to create connecting, playful, and accessible spaces for making music together—spaces for expression, growth, freedom, and letting go through music. Spaces where we explore the healing potential of collective music and improvisation. Spaces where people can express themselves freely—without judgment or expectations—and where we can meet others as our authentic selves and form new friendships.
Everyone is welcome in this community.
We celebrate people of all ages, backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, religions, physical abilities, social backgrounds, languages, and musical skill levels. All we ask of you is an open mind, a desire for connection—and a willingness to leave any form of (self-)judgment at the door.
We believe that making music—especially together with others—is a fundamental human practice. This project creates space for exactly that—especially at a time when such opportunities have become rare.
The One-Day Choir Collective aims to break down the barrier between audience and performers and create experiences where we are all part of the musical process. We want to provide a network and a platform for people to rediscover themselves through music, connect with one another, and unleash their creativity through play and collaboration.
In short:
We’re here to sing, play, connect, grow—and have fun!
