A MUSICAL FROM MUNICH FOR MUNICH

Ludwigsgymnasium is staging a new Munich musical with 150 performers to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth. With lively choreography ranging from ballet to hip-hop and cross-genre music, it transports the audience into the royal world of Ludwig I. Shortly after his wedding in 1810, the Bavarian king sends his lions and the Bavaria on a journey through time to find out what he will be remembered for. Travel with us through the biography of Ludwig I in the cosmopolitan city with a heart!

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF LUDWIG I.

The young Crown Prince Ludwig marries Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen in 1810. The lavish celebration gave rise to the Oktoberfest and has shaped Munich to this day. But Ludwig is always on the lookout for more. How will people remember him? With this question, the Bavarian king turns to his advisor, the Bavarian lion, who appears in five different guises. In search of answers, the lions embark on a journey through time, led by Bavaria, who secretly guides their destinies. While Ludwig I continues his political activities, critical voices are raised in the country , such as those of the poet Heinrich Heine . When his affair with Lola Montez finally causes unrest, the monarch threatens to lose not only the favor of his wife, but also that of his people...

150 PARTICIPANTS FROM THE LUDWIGSGYMNASIUM

On the occasion of its 200th anniversary, the Ludwigsgymnasium has conjured up a musical with 150 participants on and behind the stage that combines Munich's history with modernity. This is also reflected in the self-composed music. Whether classical, pop, rock, jazz or rap - the soundtrack of Ludwig, Lola and the Lions is a harmonious interplay of different genres and nations. Inspiring arrangements for band, choir and orchestra as well as dances from waltz to ballet to hip-hop carry the audience through a varied and entertaining evening.
