The artist duo superart.tv, consisting of Michael Volkmer (born 1966 in Ludwigshafen) and Eric Carstensen (born 1968 in Hennebont/Brittany), will present the new film "LUTOPIA 02/22" at the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum on Friday, May 3, at 7:30 pm. The film is a "long-term study of the utopias, wishes and hopes of the people of Ludwigshafen", explains Volkmer.

The project began in 2002, when 160 city dwellers told their own definition of utopia in Ludwigshafen in front of the camera. This first version premiered in 2002 in the now closed Cineplex cinema in Ludwigshafen. The film was presented in 2022 in the Rudolf-Scharpf-Galerie of the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum in the exhibition "SUPERART.TV 9497 - retrospective". In the same year, Volkmer and Carstensen again conducted interviews with sixty of the original 160 people who had shared their utopias in 2002. Thanks to the support of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Kultur Rhein-Neckar, the Kultursommer Ludwigshafen, the Kunstverein Ludwigshafen and Klanghaus e.V., "LUTOPIA 02/22" was created and is now being shown for the first time at the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum.

By juxtaposing the older and younger interviews, superart.tv simultaneously shows how much and how little the city, its inhabitants and their wishes and points of view have changed in two decades.
The film has a duration of 90 minutes, in which a picture of Ludwigshafen, its past, present and future unfolds through the fragmentary views of the participants. Following the screening, the filmmakers and participants will venture to look back and look ahead in an open discussion. Afterwards, visitors are invited to the premiere party with a buffet and vinyl DJ set.

The screening is free of charge, admission is at 18:00. The entire film "LUTOPIA 02/22" can be viewed after May 3 in the "Deltabeben Regionale 2024" exhibition until June 16.
