Slow Club Freiburg presents: LYSCHKO + SAFI

Lyschko
are three people from a medium-sized city in North Rhine-Westphalia whose frustration is unleashed in concentrated musical force. Brutal pop music torn from the dark heart of youthful fear in the face of the state of the world; but at the same time music that recognizes the circumstances as made and changeable and seeks to overcome them in a utopian way; music, finally, that draws great dreams from its own insecurity.
With the two singles "Hysterie + Abfall" and "Fremd", Lyschko has stirred up every speck of dust that had made itself comfortable in the German-language music scene. The accompanying music videos do not simply illustrate. They function as aesthetic works of art in their own right. Comments include things like "Hotter than Måneskin" or "Female Rammstein". Even if these comments don't hit the mark 100 percent, they show that Lyschko 2022 are already being compared to the greats in terms of sound and look.
On stage, too, Lina Holzrichter (vocals), Jonah Holzrichter (bass) and Lukas Korn (guitar) not only play their instruments with absolute class - the three-piece band is energetically complemented live by Doris Banovic (drums) - they also dress to the nines, look the part and, with this inner ambition, clearly stand out from the sloppy shit indie of other bands.

SAFI
is loud. Intense. A brittle, uncomfortable but magical state of emergency. Ambivalence and conflict are the starting point, the combined virtuosity of four and a half octaves of vocal range and the art diploma are the foundation, never an end in themselves. SAFI shows its face with unadorned straightforwardness, pure, big. Embraced by a mighty wall of sound. A cracking situation.
Safi's words, sharp-edged and clear, are splinters of realities hurled into sound formations. "The moment that gets stuck between your nerves." Lyricism and the raw unyieldingness of her voice define Safi's watchful eye on things - political, gritty, real. Song structures tread new paths and morph into the wall of sounds of the three-piece band, consisting of two guitars, drums and electronica. Pigeonholes are exploded and expanded with the current work "Groteske" via post-punk, nowave to avant-garde. "Uff." (Alexander Hacke, Einstürzende Neubauten)

Safi's voice is SAFI.
The apex of her musical expression. She does not roll up ideologies, but offers the listener concentrates for reflection. The content is unconditional, demanding and very close. It thus provides access to artistic concepts beyond the usual peripheries than is usual in this context. "SAFI is a single critical moment that eats into the future and feels like open-heart surgery." (Westzeit Magazin)

When profit orientation destabilizes the fabric of the world, democratic processes are called into question, enemy stereotypes replace solutions, racism further divides our society, it must be the task of art to translate speechlessness, to give courage, it must be a mirror, it must ignite the conscience. "Are you scared?", the track "Adrenalin (feat. Rummelsnuff)" spits in the face of the club-wielding crowd, exposing agitation as fear.
