How far can the desire for power go before it devours a person? At first, Macbeth and his wife themselves do not believe that they could ever come close to murdering a king. But a mysterious prophecy sparks an ambition in them that can no longer be tamed. The more successful Macbeth becomes, the more tempting the idea of taking fate into their own hands - whatever the cost.

In this concentrated version of Shakespeare's drama, the focus is entirely on the couple's disastrous interplay. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth drive each other forward, trapped in a mixture of dependency, greed and mutual manipulation. Partners in life become accomplices in crime - and ultimately victims of their own obsession.

The outside world recedes, while music, visions and the ominous voices of witches accompany the couple's inner descent. Reality and delusion merge into a dark nightmare landscape in which power promises everything - and ultimately destroys everything.
