In the organizer's words:

machen&erleben is a mobile workshop format by and with Matthias Knötzinger, carpenter and product designer. He has been running hands-on workshops in schools, museums and cultural venues with machen&erleben since 2020. The focus is on easy access to craftsmanship - regardless of previous knowledge. As a guest at waslangewert, machen&erleben is bringing this tried-and-tested format to a temporary, open setting.

What you can expect:

In the workshop, you will build a stool from wood, steel and textiles and learn basic craft techniques. The focus is on your own work: sawing, drilling, bending and assembling - step by step, with a clear structure and space for individual work.

The workshop concept:

• Prepared workstations and material sets
• Instructions with work steps that build on each other
• Professional tools and simple devices
• Changing activities for high concentration and motivation
• Central tool stations as meeting places
• Personal support during the workshop

Previous knowledge is not necessary. The workshop is structured in such a way that all participants can work independently and gain confidence in handling materials and tools. At the end, you will take your self-built stool home with you - as a functional object and as the result of your own work process.

Key data:

The workshop lasts approx. 1.5 to 2 hours. The course leader will be present at all times to provide support and assistance. The workshop will take place twice:

→ First date: Friday, 30.01.2026 from 6 pm → Second date: Saturday, 31.01.2026 from 2 pm

Both workshops will take place at Grindelallee 129 in Hamburg. The events are hosted by waslangewert in collaboration with machen & erleben. The premises are supported by Hamburger Kreativ Gesellschaft. All tools and materials are available. Drinks are available on a donation basis.

You will then receive a voucher from us to print out.
