After three confirmed dates in Germany so far, there will now be another concert in Leipzig.

"There's so much happening all the time that feels intentionally evil, that trying to make something beautiful feels like a radical act," says Marisa Dabice, and it's at that moment that the punk and indie rock of Mannequin Pussy starts to sparkle. Then the music of the band from Philadelphia feels like an indestructible and stirring scream that wants to be heard.

On four albums, Dabice (guitar, vocals), Maxine Steen (guitar, synthesizer), Colins Regisford (bass) and Kaleen Reading (drums) have written cathartic songs about desperate times. Their upcoming album "I Got Heaven", which will be released at the beginning of March, proves this more than ever. Across ten tracks that shift abruptly from crashing, searing punk to inviting pop, the record deals with longing, the power of being alone and life in an uncaring, unkind world.

It's a document of a band creating something angry, exciting and utterly alive. This directness is due to the change in Mannequin Pussy's work. Instead of working on the songs at home as before, this time they were created in the studio with producer John Congleton. But it is also an expression of the changes in the band structure. Steen was officially added to the line-up and the band members' private lives experienced a period of upheaval due to break-ups, changing life situations and phases of self-assessment, during which touring together was a grounding and clarifying force. The result is an impressive and energetic album for people who don't want to settle for the status quo. Instead of judgment, greed and avarice, the songs on "I Got Heaven" ask what it really means to genuinely care about the people around you and support the community. "We all have to leave our comfort zone," says Dabice, "because we live in the freest era ever, we also have the freedom to question all the systems that have been forced upon us.

It makes sense to ask yourself: What is it that moves me to live?"

In June, Mannequin Pussy will give us their answer when they come on tour with us.
