Mari Froes live at Kulturarena Jena
In the organizer's words:
Times are changing. In the past, the path to success in the music world was quite rocky: there were demo tapes that you had to desperately get into the hands of the right people, and talent scouts, clubs, radio stations, streetcars, and record label offices that you had to visit one by one in hopes of being discovered. Today, that can sometimes happen in just a few seconds. A clip that strikes the right chord can go viral in no time, touch people all over the world, and set an avalanche-like career in motion. Social media platforms have become a global launchpad for new talent—a great opportunity! Easy game? Not really. The path to the top may have been harder back then. But once you’ve reached the top, staying there—amidst today’s fast-paced world and fierce competition—is arguably the tougher part.
A fascinating young musician from Brazil is mastering this with flying colors and clearly embracing the opportunities offered by global connectivity. After Mari Froes shared a cover of “Figa de Guiné”—a veritable anthem for Brazil’s soccer-loving nation—it happened. The recording went viral, racking up 72 million views in a short time and giving one of the most exciting new voices in the singer-songwriter world a platform. There it was, the door opener. And now? After all, she has to step onto the stage and make her mark! What followed were moving original compositions in the style of Brazilian pop music, blending elements of bossa nova, samba, and jazz. Shortly thereafter, she teamed up with the French DJ duo Trinix to create a spectacular version of “Vaitimbor,” which became a global hit—and in Brazil, she’s long since been a superstar. This success quickly spread to other parts of the world: all sorts of live performances in Europe followed, and last year she embarked on her first headlining European tour. Now, in 2026, she’s returning for an extensive festival tour—bringing with her the poetic lightness, subtle sensitivity, and rhythmic energy that make her music so distinctive.
Everywhere you look and listen, you can see and hear just how deeply Froe’s music touches hearts and wins people over—and to us, that’s really no surprise: There’s this delicate interweaving of warm soundscapes, personal stories, and harmonies that linger long after the music ends, bringing joy even to a live performance: delicate, powerful, and haunting.
