Maria und der Vulkan

In the organizer's words:

We are "The Vulcan Grrrls", a newly founded feminist theater collective from Halle (Saale) and we are telling you our first story with "Maria and the Volcano".
Maria and Louky are volcanologists. Maria loves Louky, Louky loves Maria and they live like this for several years. Suddenly Maria is unfairly fired and the volcano is about to erupt. Before Louky also leaves the volcano, she tells us: this was my life with Maria. A musical play about sisterhood and landscape, about forebodings, fire and a vixen who likes to have several lives. What outbursts are we looking for? And what do we make of what has been destroyed?

So Maria built volcanoes out of potting soil, salt dough and flour. And depending on whether the tide was high or low, the mobiles would rise and fall from the ceiling. I also started doing this. We took the landscape apart together: river, seaweed, waves, beaches. And then the volcano: smoke, magma, slopes, craters. And of course the island: houses, people, animals, paths. Maria liked to repeat that you have to give the words STOFF. That you should look them in the face and ask yourself what they really meant. That it was good for them to switch from one language to another. And that one day I would have to understand (Maria meant: decide) what the word "volcanologist" meant - to me.
