Shoe salesman Marty (Timothée Chalamet) has only one goal in life: To become world champion in table tennis and thus ascend to the Olympus of celebrated athletes, among whom he has long counted himself anyway. In order to take part in a tournament in London, the young New Yorker puts all his eggs in one basket, but has to admit defeat to the Japanese sports star Endo in the nerve-wracking final. But this is just the beginning of the odyssey of a man who is prepared to risk everything for fame and success. Because Marty's dream is definitely a few sizes too big for his uncle's small shoe store.
