A missing researcher, a gruesome find - a new case for the "Dutchman" Liewe Cupido. No sooner has an exercise by the Dutch, German and Danish border guards begun off Heligoland than the coastguard receives an emergency call. A climate researcher who was on her way from Greenland to Kiel on a US research vessel is missing.

Mathijs Deen, born in 1962, is the author of novels, columns and a volume of short stories, which was nominated for the prestigious AKO Literature Prize. In 2018, he was awarded the Halewijn Prize for the literary quality of his work. In 2024, he received the prestigious Dutch crime fiction prize De Gouden Strop for The Diver, the second part of his popular crime series about the "Dutchman" Liewe Cupido.
