With ABOVE AND BELOW THE THREE WORLDS, Galerie Thomas Schulte is presenting a comprehensive solo exhibition of works on paper, frottages and objects by Matt Mullican. Works are presented in which familiar systems for organizing and presenting information and knowledge become visible, including diagrams, models and pinboards, which Mullican combines with specially developed, idiosyncratic systems of order. These form the core of his artistic practice. The consistent use of primary colors and elementary forms such as the circle characterize the works, whose initial legibility proves to be multi-layered and complex upon closer inspection.
