It's always worth going out on a limb. Even if everything goes wrong, a good story remains at the end. Or a nice sentence. And Matthias Reuter collects sentences and stories - everywhere, but especially in the Ruhr region. Because you can't avoid the beautiful sentences there anyway. And why should you? Anyone who brings home nothing other than flour, milk and jam after shopping has not been listening properly. And every visit to the funfair becomes a linguistic highlight with an exasperated grandpa shouting at his grandson: "If you don't buy an ice cream straight away, don't eat any chips!"

Reuter celebrates the premiere of his new collection of short stories and poetry on stage, plays the piano and tells new and old stories from Oberhausen for the rest of the world. There will be reading, poetry and - yes - ironing, because Reuter is the only ironing poet in Germany. And you are sure to take home a nice sentence or two at the end. You don't even have to bring a notepad, because everything is already written down. And the author brings the books with him. And a pen, because the advice of a Krefeld audience member to her acquaintance has been valid for years: "Go to him and ask him for an autograph. Then he'll be happy."

Matthias Reuter is an author and music cabaret artist from the Ruhr region. He has been able to make a living from it since 2010 (says the tax office). He has to live on it until 2070 (says his pension certificate) Reuter has received several cabaret awards for his performances, e.g. the Hessian Cabaret Prize 2018, the Dresden Satire Prize 2019, but also the jury prize of "Tegtmeiers Erben" in 2011. The CDs for his programs have been published by WortArt-Verlag in Cologne, most recently the double CD "Höchstwahrscheinlich echt" in 2024. The short story books "Mäh" and "Rentnerfischen im Hallenbad" are available from Satyr-Verlag in Berlin.
