Avi Avital is the ambassador of the mandolin par excellence. Born in Israel as the son of Moroccan immigrants, the artist has given his instrument an unexpected boost in popularity with his passionate commitment. As the original mandolin repertoire is very limited, Avi Avital is a busy wanderer between worlds, seeking to bridge the gap between classical music, jazz and world music. Omer Klein has been a congenial partner for this open-world and genre-open approach for years. Trained in the USA, the pianist is inspired not only by Western jazz, but also by the oriental tradition of his native Israel and minimal music. They already wowed audiences together at the Musikfest in 2012 and 2018, and now they are joined exclusively by the classically trained clarinettist Ismail Lumanovski from Macedonia. A perfect match! Having grown up with the "spirit" of Balkan folk music, he is also a passionate bridge builder between cultures. On their musical journey together, the trio interweaves influences from the Middle East and the Balkans with elements of classical music and jazz - full of verve, vitality and virtuosity!
