"On my eighteenth birthday, my mother gave me a paper with ten points, which she passed on to me as a legacy. Point 1 reads: 'The meaning of our life is evolution, towards perfection. Nothing that is created and is good is thrown away. We build on what we have already achieved. You are descended from Joseph's brother Levi, who lived three thousand years ago. My mother collected and archived her own history. I inherited it and turned it into a film that is primarily about perception, legacy and dealing with history. Using objects, photos, sound and film recordings, I tell the story of what was spread and concealed in the family. The film is about traumatization and at the same time about how history is constantly produced, archived, brought into a discourse and classified on macro and micro levels - and about how I myself continued to collect so that everything together results in a narrative."
