MILA MAR

In the organizer's words:

Support: BENNI CELLINI

MILA MAR is universally fantastic. With their own language, driving rhythms, orchestral - melancholic staging, they create an unmistakable sound that makes you think the Arctic Ocean is in the Orient. Oriental synthesizer sounds, African djembes, strings, percussion & the impressive four-octave singing of A. Hachfeld tell archaic stories - soulful & completely without comprehensible words.

MILA MAR concerts are powerful, almost spiritual events in which Hachfeld connects with the audience. She sings in her own imaginative language, sings Joik, an ancient Sami singing art that she learned in the north of Norway, and then switches to oriental throat singing.

Her voice is a versatile instrument. For two hours, the real world merges with the soul world of each individual listener..." (Wilhelm Dietzel HNA)

Mila Mar was founded in Göttingen in 1994, the first album of the same name was released in 1997. Three more albums and several singles followed, the band played extensive tours and festival appearances throughout Europe for years, including with Youssou N'Dour, Mari Boine & Band and Apocalyptica.

From 2004 onwards, the group went quiet, even though it was never officially disbanded. In 2015, they returned with an expanded line-up and played several concerts. In the years that followed, they worked on new song material, releasing the EP Haime in 2018. They released their fifth studio album, Harar, in spring 2019. Their latest release is the 7-inch box set songs from the other side - a work of 6 songs, released by Dryland Records in 2024.

_____________

BENNI CELLINI

BENNI CELLINI rocked the gothic rock world for over a quarter of a century with Letzte Instanz. His first own side project Land Über has made a name for itself in the German jazz and folk scene. "The tracks on my "SOLO" album were all written with my esteemed colleague Karl Helbig from Land Über. In a world where everything is supposed to get bigger, faster and further, we try to reduce ourselves to the bare minimum. Deceleration instead of acceleration - dreaming instead of rushing."

There is hardly a musical field that BENNI CELLINI has not yet explored: "Reggae and funk are not really my thing and I let people who want to play real classical music do it! Apart from that, I've played a lot of musical genres and I keep my curiosity." The best examples are the traditional sounds of Lind and his collaboration with the breakdance group The Saxons and the dancers of the Landesbühnen Sachsen. Or the collaboration with 108 Fahrenheit, which led to the collaboration with Steppl Salewski, who produced the CD.

Born in Radebeul in 1978, Benni Gerlach is married and the father of three sons. He received his classical cello training at the music school in the district of Meißen, where he now also works as a teacher. He has been working as a freelance cellist in numerous projects and bands since 2003. BENNI CELLINI has been part of the live ensemble of Goethes Erben since 2019.
