The electro event for parents with children
at FEZ-Berlin.

Children discover the thrill of electronic music - adults dance to club beats: miniBOOTH attracts visitors to FEZ-Berlin on the second weekend in May.

Making music with electronic sounds, experimenting and tinkering and the joy of music: that's what the new miniBOOTH music event at FEZ-Berlin is all about on the long Ascension weekend. In workshops and with various technical gimmicks, young people and children will playfully explore sound and music. Meanwhile, adults dance to the club beats of a top-class line-up.

In guided workshops, children solder together small sound generators and light elements. There are music lessons and fun activities that provide a playful introduction to various techniques. There are various modern instruments everywhere, as well as devices from days gone by that you can touch and use to create and modify sounds.

Synthesizers are of course a must at the miniBOOTH: The kids can make music creatively at the controls and perhaps discover unexpected talents. At other stations, sounds are created - and manipulated - using a wide variety of means. For example, vinyl, speech, voice, singing or a suite for chamber orchestra by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, the famous "Carnival of the Animals".

At the "modular table", children play musical elements to each other and discover that electronic music does not only connect people when they dance. There is a school for young up-and-coming DJs, instructions for inventing beats and sampling using smartphones and literally music-making plants and colors. Without computers, but entirely analog, visuals are created based on the lightshows of the big stars of the 60s and 70s.

There will also be lots of arts and crafts stations and, of course, dancing. For children, there will be a children's rave, electro kids and house dance classes. For adults, selected musicians from the scene will play harmonious beats: for example Asa808 from the queer-feminist solo party collective & label TOYS Berlin, the exceptional Wellen.Brecher from the inclusive techno collective Ick mach Welle, or the Polish musician Ina West, who combines the chilled minimalism of Moderat with the concert energy of Die Antwoord in a duo with drums.

During miniBOOTH, the FEZ-Berlin ensures that the volume is appropriate for children. Nevertheless, parents should bring earplugs to be on the safe side.

One week after miniBOOTH, the FEZ-Berlin will host the largest synth fair in Europe, SUPERBOOTH. Well over 200 international exhibitors will be showing their "hot wares" at SUPERBOOTH.

The miniBOOTH workshops are funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of thePopToGo program of BV-Pop within the framework of "Kultur macht Stark - Bündnisse für Bildung".
