Mirlitons
In the organizer's words:
The setting resembles an arena. In it, two masked figures, martial and unrecognizable, lurking, humbly waiting. One, Aymeric Hainaux, is a beatboxer, musician and draughtsman. The other, François Chaignaud, is a dancer, choreographer and singer.
A musical and scenic duel develops, with voices, microphones, loudspeakers, bells, hard heels on the stage floor and the two bodies.
Chaignaud and Hainaux test each other's musical limits. They embark on a search for forms of singing and rhythm that are rarely explored. Somewhere between extremely raw and loud and incredibly close and tender, Chaignaud and Hainaux reach a state of physical and musical intensity.
The two internationally acclaimed artists present a mixture of performance and concert that is as full of the melancholy of vanished rituals as it is of the aggressiveness of reality. The duo is as versatile and as elusive as a "mirliton" (a French word that refers to a small flute, military headgear, an old coin or a cake). François Chaignaud was last at the KunstFestSpiele with the Hildegard von Bingen evening Symphonia Harmoniae Caelestium Revelationum.
