We live in a society of sighted people. From "goodbye" to "blind alarm" to "love at first sight", our language is full of metaphors of seeing. Knowledge and reason are associated with light and sight, while immaturity and irrationality are associated with images of blindness and darkness. The world of blindness is unknown to most of us, our lives are based on sight. But what happens when this condition is not met? What space are blind or visually impaired people in? What does time mean to them? What do sounds and noises tell them? Can you see with your ears?
These and other questions are explored in "With different eyes", a touching theatrical collage of songs, texts, images, sounds and sensory impressions that poetically immerses the audience in the world of blindness. During this musical evening, texts by blind and visually impaired people and the lyrics of the songs sung live direct our thoughts, our feelings and our perception away from the visual and towards other senses such as hearing. Not as a substitute, perhaps as a benefit. The eight players and musicians find themselves in a space that moves between darkness, blurriness, bright light and the absence of strong colors. The production aims to make the performance accessible to non-sighted audiences, also with the help of audio description*. More than worth seeing!
