Lilia (Eya Bouteraa), who lives in Paris, travels to her native Tunisia to attend her uncle Daly’s (Karim Rmadi) funeral. She is accompanied by her partner Alice (Marion Barbeau), who, however, stays at a nearby hotel rather than at the family home in Tunisia. Even Lilia’s mother (Hiam Abbass) has no idea about her daughter’s lesbian relationship, which would not only bring shame upon the family but is also a criminal offense in Tunisia. When Lilia learns during the multi-day funeral that her uncle died under mysterious circumstances, she begins to conduct her own investigation. She is tired of being humiliated by her family’s game of hide-and-seek and delves deeper and deeper into Tunisia’s queer subculture—and thus into a web of secrets that encompasses not only her family but society as a whole. The ghosts of the past quietly guide her along the way.
