In February 2026, the time has finally come: rock legend Mitch Ryder is returning to Europe with his "Songs from the Road" tour. Ryder, whose impressive discography now includes more than 30 albums, looks back on over five decades of a unique career - and has long since become a legend in his own right.
Ryder landed his first big hit in 1965 with his band "Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels": "Jenny Take A Ride!" catapulted the young musician from Detroit straight into the limelight. Since then, Ryder has been regarded as one of the most authentic and exciting singers in rock 'n' roll and rhythm & blues. With his unmistakable voice - rough, passionate and with a pinch of whiskey - he embodies the sound of an era that has lost none of its energy to this day. No less a figure than Keith Richards described him as one of the most exciting singers the music scene has produced.
Inspired by James Brown and Motown, Mitch Ryder still does what he does best: Blues and rock from the bottom of his heart. This is evidenced not only by his countless concerts, but also by his special connection to Europe. Ever since his legendary performance at Rockpalast - which was highlighted as one of the best ever in the sixty-minute WDR documentary on the 40th anniversary in 2017 - Germany has become a second home for Ryder. "That night was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me," he says looking back.
While his American fans mainly want to hear the hits from the sixties, Europe is a place of artistic freedom for Mitch Ryder. "They allow me to be an artist here. That's why I love Europe," he says.
Ryder last attracted attention in 2024 with the acclaimed live album "The Roof Is On Fire" (Ruf Records), which was recorded during his 2019/2020 tour. His new studio album "With Love", recorded in Detroit and produced by none other than Don Was (Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Iggy Pop), was also released in the same year. "Of the 21 studio albums I've recorded, this is one of the two best," explains Ryder.
In 2026, Mitch Ryder brings his unmistakable blend of rock, blues and pure passion back to Europe. With the "Songs from the Road" tour, he will be performing in Germany - authentic, powerful and absolutely timeless.
