Hardly any other story about man's inability to master nature is as well-known as Herman Melville's great novel from 1851, in which Captain Ahab, driven by a desire for revenge for misfortune, sets off in pursuit of a mysterious white whale. This classic of world literature is not only a tremendous adventure, but also a cornucopia of philosophical and scientific themes that are as relevant today as they were 170 years ago.
In a composition of text and music, Christian Brückner, whose sonorous voice should not only be familiar to fans of Robert De Niro, and Elbtonal Percussion whisk us away to the untamed expanses of the world's oceans. The Hamburg percussionists transform Ahab's adventures into powerful rhythms and an epic sound that the press rightly praises as "the finest head cinema". - Not for the seasick!
