Modeling chance - reading and vernissage at the interfaces of science and art, chance and creativity

How do chance, science and art fit together? On February 23, 2025, the question of what unites these components will be explored: "Modeling Chance" - in a creative and inspiring setting.

The event begins at 16:00 with a reading and discussion with Prof. Dr. Florian Heinrichs, whose latest non-fiction book "Algorithms, Chance, Uncertainty - and Pizza!" gives us an insight into the role of chance in mathematics and everyday life (in Bochum).

Chance leads us on to Marina Markgraf's vernissage: the Dortmund artist uses chance as a deliberate design element in her art. Using techniques such as collage, decalcomania and aleatorics, she creates works that move between the controlled and the uncontrollable. Her pictures reflect life itself: a balance of planning, spontaneity and the courage to allow the uncertain.

At the end, there will be space for exchange and networking, accompanied by a live set by DJ Zebra - for a day full of creative perspectives and food for thought.
