Mohammad Reza Mortazavi is considered one of the most virtuoso and innovative percussionists of our time. With his unique playing technique on the tombak and daf, he transforms traditional Persian drums into entire orchestras and creates soundscapes of hypnotic intensity.

In his solo concerts, Mortazavi unfolds the full range of his art: from meditative, almost whispering passages to ecstatic rhythmic outbursts, from precise microtonal nuances to overwhelming cascades of sound. His music combines the millennia-old tradition of Persian rhythms with a contemporary sound language.
