Monday Shorts

In the organizer's words:

To the theater on a Monday night? No question about it! We are looking forward to continuing the "Monday Shorts", where artists and employees present specially designed programs on our small but beautiful stage in the theater restaurant. There will be plays, songs and readings. There are joint events with other Lübeck cultural institutions as well as improv shows, readings and quirky performances. The ever-popular "Kostproben" will also continue to sail under this flag: during the premiere week, we give an insight into our rehearsals and the directing teams talk about their concepts. And the same applies in future: admission is free.

February

In February, we invite you to get a first glimpse of the next drama premieres at our tasting sessions. In "Birthday Candles", American playwright Noah Haidle celebrates the life of his main character Ernestine through all the highs and lows of her birthdays. In "The Black Rider", worlds collide and the music of Tom Waits meets the ghost story of "Der Freischütz". On 16/02, it's time to guess along with the "Theater Pub Quiz" and on 23/02, we will be discussing the (un)equal pay of women and men in cooperation with the Women's Network on the Work Situation, the DGB Schleswig-Holstein Südost, the equal opportunities officers of Stadtwerke Lübeck and the Women's Office of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. On the occasion of "Equal Pay Day" this week, we have collected testimonials from Lübeck. Luisa Böse, Lilly Gropper and Andreas Hutzel present these stories and supplement them with a few facts and figures on the situation.

March

The Monday Shorts in March begin with an interdisciplinary cooperation: members of the music theater ensemble and actors will present Voltaire's 18th century satire "Candide", which is based on Leonard Bernstein's operetta of the same name. On 09/03, Anna-Lena Hitzfeld invites guests from Lübeck to a feminist Kampftag recap. For the urban space project "Zombies!" we invite a test audience of a maximum of 50 spectators to the Kaisertor on 16/03. (Free tickets are available at the box office.) The tasting of Knut Winkmann's confrontation with the band Nirvana will take place, as usual, in the Kammerspiele. And on 30/03, Lukas Huber, Marianne Schuppe and Alice Belugou will perform their chamber opera "only"; completely without opulent costumes and breakneck arias.
