Moving Out Loud

In the organizer's words:

MOVING OUT LOUD is an experience of dance without sight. In the middle of the stage and in small groups, the audience immerses itself with closed eyes in a soundscape of voices, descriptions and moving bodies, which playfully makes it possible to experience one's own body, movement and dance purely acoustically. Developed together with blind and sighted dancers, the performance deals artistically with (self-)audio description and the possibilities of empathic resonance when dance is perceived primarily acoustically. The encounter between different protagonists, voices and bodies is a playful exploration of the question of how movement can be experienced beyond the visual aspect of dance.

In the midst of the audible stage presence of dancers and without a visual model, a very individual idea of dance and body perception opens up to the audience. Based on the teaching method of the blind ballet dancer Krishna Washburn, who works with self-audio description in her online Dark Room Ballet workshops, Britt Hatzius explored together with the blind dancer Pernille Sonne, the blind singer Gerlinde Sämann, the sighted dancers Cecilia Ponteprimo. Livia Vogt, Lorenzo Ponteprimo and Georgia Begbie explore the acoustic potential of dance. This joint exploration will now be made accessible to a sighted and non-sighted audience with the help of the immersive sound installation OTTOsonics.

The performance takes place in complete darkness with blindfolds. It deals artistically with audio description and is therefore particularly accessible to blind and visually impaired audiences. There is a written introduction for people with hearing impairments. If you have any other questions about accessibility or the need for assistance, please contact us in advance.
