Mülheimer Boogie Time Vol. 5

In the organizer's words:

Host Jörg Hegemann from Witten can look back on around 2000 performances in over 35 years on stage, including concerts in the USA, Russia and 13 other European countries. He is the musical director of the BOOGIE WOOGIE CONGRESS at the Philharmonie Essen and various similar events. He has produced 12 CDs under his own name and has appeared as a guest on countless festival CDs and productions by other musicians. He was the "man at the piano" at events with Bill Ramsey, Chris Howland, Hape Kerkeling, Franz Beckenbauer and many others.

David "Dave" Ruosch was born and raised in Zurich on 28 April 1963 and specializes in traditional blues and jazz piano music. Among other things, he was awarded the SWISS JAZZ AWARD in 2012 together with his long-time stage partner, singer Christina Jaccard. He is regarded throughout Europe as a top-class stylist and authentic representative of boogie-woogie, blues, stride and swing. In addition to a busy concert schedule with his trio, as a soloist and with international bands and star musicians, Dave Ruosch teaches jazz piano at the MKZ (Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich) and is a lecturer in didactics at the Zurich University of the Arts.
We are delighted to be able to present this internationally sought-after top musician for the first time in the Ruhr area - and of course at Mülheim Boogie Time!

Paul G. Ulrich studied the double bass in Cologne, Hamburg and New York. He has toured Europe and the USA accompanying artists. He has performed with musicians such as Benny Bailey, Bill Ramsey, Hugo Strasser, Jiggs Whigham and many others and was a member of the "Paul Kuhn Trio" for twelve years.

Oliver Mewes is one of the best-known German swing drummers today. As a permanent member of the band "Echoes Of Swing" (1998 - 2019) and "Engelbert Wrobel's Swing Society", concert tours have taken him around the globe. His work as a drummer is documented on numerous CD, radio and TV productions.

Gramophone, swinging shellac treasures and show dancing: Shellac DJ Volkmar Hess (Phonomuseum Dormagen) and his boogie dance couples will also provide the perfect setting for the concert in the foyer of the Chamber Music Hall.

The event is organized by Mülheimer Stadtmarketing und Tourismus GmbH (MST) in cooperation with the Mülheimer Jazz-Club e. V.
