Austrian baritone Georg Nigl has already proven himself to be a first-rate lieder singer at the 2022 Musikfest. In times when the use of smartphones means that visuals are increasingly coming to the fore, the singer has now deliberately devised a chamber music-intimate format that, in its mixture of song recital and reading, sees itself as a school of listening. The themes revolve around love, loss and farewell, interwoven with moments of hope and consolation. Nigl's multi-faceted vocals, sometimes pale on the edge of audibility, then again impulsive and powerful, are sensitively accompanied by Alexander Gergelyfi. The specialist in historical keyboard instruments elicits fragile, delicate sounds full of subtle nuances from the clavichord, a forerunner of the fortepiano, with a differentiated touch. The music is interspersed with selected, mostly contemporary texts, which are pointedly recited by actor Sven-Eric Bechtolf. In the intimate ambience of the Kaminsaal, a magic unfolds that you won't want to miss a note of!
