Verità Baroque, the name says it all! The ensemble, founded during the coronavirus pandemic, is an outstanding collective of young musicians who are dedicated to rediscovering and reinterpreting baroque music on period instruments. Under the title "Solo contro tutti", they show how two forms of concerto were established at the time: solo and grosso. While in the solo concerto a single soloist emerges virtuosically from the orchestra, in the concerto grosso a main orchestra meets a group of soloists. While Antonio Vivaldi was one of the figureheads of the solo concerto, Arcangelo Corelli was regarded as the grand master of the concerto grosso. The ensemble brings to life with rousing enthusiasm why these two baroque ideas of the "concerto" (from the Latin "concerto"/competition and the Italian "concertare"/working together) were groundbreaking innovations. In its search for truth and truthfulness, Verità Baroque also focuses on dialog with the present - here with the specially commissioned work "Starfish Rebellion" by Stefan Hanke (*1984).
