A new year is always a good reason to celebrate. We look back on the past year and at the same time look ahead full of hope and ideas, good resolutions and big plans. New Year's concerts are as much a part of our tradition as Dinner for One or sparklers.
Millions of people have been watching the Vienna Philharmonic concert on New Year's morning for 84 years. KAMEL's New Year's concert cannot look back on quite such a proud tradition, but this year the young string orchestra from Mainz-Laubenheim is also celebrating its second program to mark the turn of the year and has a colourful bouquet of traditional New Year's music, classical impulses and rock-pop covers.
A cross-section of the work and interests of the orchestra, which is not only broadly diversified in its repertoire, but also likes to experiment in the composition of its programs. For example, Johann Strauss' Fledermaus and Disney's Beauty and the Beast can be wonderfully combined thematically.
A thematic arc from Rossini's The Barber of Seville to Strauss' polkas to Imagine Dragons or AC/DC seems equally exciting. Of course, An der schönen blauen Donau and the Radecki March are not to be missed and are just as inviting to join in as ABBA or Brings.
A program as varied as the world of music and the orchestra that interprets it; a program that celebrates tradition and breaks new ground - everyone will find what they are looking for and be transported into the traditional spirit of optimism.
