The Leipzig Song Scenepresents: Leipzig’s first FLINTA* song-reading stage!Masha Potempa& Marsha Richarz want to get to the bottom of the pressing issues of our time and, together with the audience, sketch out a more just future. Stars of the singer-songwriter scene share their perspectives and hopes. Of course, there will also be plenty of music and verbal fireworks.
With six albums to her name and numerous awards, Sarah Lesch is one of the leading figures in the new German singer-songwriter scene. She is the recipient of the Troubadour Chanson Prize, the FM4 Protest Song Contest, the Hanns Seidel Foundation Prize, and the Udo Lindenberg–Hermann Hesse Panic Prize. Her lyrical and subtle songs explore the big picture through the small details, observing everyday life and the world from a perspective that’s always close to the action and doesn’t shy away from taking a close look even at uncomfortable topics. In her songs, the line between entertainment and social commentary blurs. Rarely are the sociopolitical issues of our time summed up as comprehensively as in her lyrics. With her charisma, she takes her audience to highway rest stops, dirty kitchen tables, or dimly lit bars; she makes the audience laugh, moves them to tears, and—almost in passing—provokes them to take a stand.

As hosts, two powerful voices from the Leipzig scene have joined forces to ensure that, for this one event, the proportion of women—Ma(r)sha—is higher than that of men. They know how to sensitively weave both personal and social themes into words and music, garnishing them with a dash of madness—an approach that has already earned them several awards:

Marsha Richarz is an author, stage poet, host, and much more. She performs pieces about life, feminism, body image, and washcloths. In doing so, she manages to weave politically relevant topics humorously, charmingly, and satirically into everyday observations and situations.

Masha Potempa exudes quiet humor and immediately hits you over the head with her poetry. With a warm voice, acting talent, and keen powers of observation, she navigates the emotional landscapes and tensions of everyday life, skillfully maintaining both sensitivity and edge.

As the evening progresses, courage is called for and things get exciting—a surprise guest from the audience gets to take the stage! And the audience gets the chance to directly influence the theme of the next evening—and the new texts and songs that will be created for it—with their wishes and visions for the future.
