The Myrsini Bekakou Quartet is characterized by a tense yet flexible sound. The violin is at the center of an ensemble sound that unfolds between precise form and open risk. The starting point of the music is Greek rhythms and melodies - not as a fixed reference system, but as material that defies limitation. Instead of remaining in predetermined forms, the music opens up through improvisation and modal jazz language. This creates a sound space that constantly shifts and redefines itself without being dependent on clear classifications. Within this structure, the violin takes on a central but not dominant role. It initiates movements, sets impulses, contradicts or withdraws. The piano, double bass and percussion do not react as accompaniment, but actively intervene in the course of the music. Between clearly defined structures and open passages, the compositions unfold with great
with great flexibility. Familiar elements can appear without being explained; seemingly fixed forms are built up only to shift again. Improvisation does not function as an addition, but as an integral part of the musical language.

In her compositions, Myrsini Bekakou draws on impressions associated with the place where she grew up. These do not have a narrative effect, but rather characterize the use of time, movement and compression in the musical material.
