Old Major cleared his throat and sang. He actually had a brittle voice, but he sang well enough, and it was a rousing melody, something between 'My Darling Clementine' and 'La Cucaracha'. The lyrics were: Animals of England, animals of Ireland, Earth animals far and wide, Listen to my message of joy, of the golden future time...from the book by George Orwell

What begins with a utopia of liberation from servitude, equality and brotherhood, gradually develops a destructive group dynamic and totalitarian structures that are underpinned by powerful propaganda. What happened again to the milk that finally belongs to the animals themselves? Oh yes, it's needed by the pigs, who ultimately have the hardest job on the farm as leaders.

The animals are astonished to discover that it wasn't the storm that destroyed the mill, but Snowball, the traitor who was once celebrated as a fighter. And didn't the ten rules say "No animal shall kill another animal"? Oh right, "... not without reason"! And while we are still singing the beautiful songs and enjoying the good apple harvest, we ask ourselves, rubbing our eyes: where should we have been vigilant and when should the protest have started?
