Neues aus alten Kirchenbänken bauen! Workshop in Gelsenkirchen mit dem spanischen Designer Curro Claret und Baucircus

As part of Manifesta 16 Ruhr, Spanish designer Curro Claret and the nomadic workshop Baucircus invite you to design and build new, playful constructions from discarded church pews. These will then be used as public street furniture for the neighborhood and as part of Curro Claret's installation This is not a church pew, which will be shown as part of Manifesta 16 Ruhr in the St.-Josef-Kirche in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf and the St.-Ludgerus-Kirche in Bochum.

The workshop will take place in the St. Josef Church, Ückendorfer Straße 124, in Gelsenkirchen.

Timetable:

Friday, May 15

16.00-18.00 Meet & Greet with Curro Claret and guided tour of St. Josef's Church in Gelsenkirchen

Saturday, May 16 to Wednesday, May 20:

11.30-13.30

- Lunch break -

15.00-18.00 hrs.

Participants can choose flexibly between morning and evening or attend the whole day. Daily attendance is recommended in order to make intensive progress on your own projects.

The workshop begins on May 15 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a meet & greet with Curro Claret and a guided tour of St. Joseph's Church.

The workshop will be held in German and English and is free of charge.

A good opportunity for all interested parties, trainees and students from the fields of design and architecture to experience and directly apply social design in a real, practical context.

Previous knowledge of craftsmanship is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
