"Perhaps Goethe's Mephisto would have played the violin like this" was the verdict of a well-known critic on Niccolò Paganini, and some enthusiastic concertgoers thought they detected a smell of sulphur as he amazed his audience with his virtuosity. Josef "Paganini" Ziga has been known to Bremerhaven audiences as an outstanding devil's violinist ever since his brilliant performance of Piazzolla's Four Seasons, so there was nothing more obvious than to invite him to perform a colorful bouquet of breakneck virtuoso solo works for his instrument. Presenter Georg Renz will be the witty guide through the evening, which begins with Sarasate's Carmen Fantasy and is far from over with the overture to Lehár's operetta Paganini .
