NEUVERORTUNG: Neue Räume schaffen Beziehungen – drei innovative städtebauliche Kulturprojekte

New spaces create relationships - three innovative urban cultural projects

At this event in the NEUVERORTUNG series, international experts will use three examples to show how public space can be used to create new social and cultural relationships.

After their keynote speeches, they will talk to Frauke Burgdorff, Vice President of the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning (DASL), about changes in project planning, but also about new opportunities through social participation in development processes.

The discussion partners are:

• Ellen van Loon, architecture firm OMA (Rotterdam, New York, Beijing, Hong Kong), architect of Factory International
  Factory International Manchester - mixing and integrating cultural institutions: A spectacular new building on an old industrial conversion site.

• Tirza de Fockert, City of Amsterdam, Consulting Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam
  OBA Next - The library of the future is much more than just a building: by 2028, a completely new library location is to be built in the south-east of Amsterdam, which will be developed together with the local multicultural community.

• Anke Buettner, Director of the Monacensia Munich
  Monacensia - from the opening up of existing institutions: The careful conversion of a time-honored villa relies heavily on the participation of urban society.

The NEUVERORTUNG event series is a cooperation between the Cologne City Library and the Haus der Architektur Köln (hdak), with the kind support of the Dutch Embassy / Consulate General Düsseldorf.
