There are plays that are best performed not in the theater, but in other places. NippleJesus, written as a short story by English cult author Nick Hornby in 2002, is one of them and that's exactly why we're not playing it in the GRENDTheater, but where it belongs: in the middle of the changing art exhibitions at Kunsthaus Essen!

NippleJesus is about Dave, a former bouncer with a military past, who now works as a supervisor in an art museum. There he is given the special task of guarding and protecting a particularly controversial work of art - which is also FSK 18. Initially outraged by the 'artwork' himself, Dave gradually transforms from a 'snotty, tough guy' to a defender of artistic freedom.
And in the end, once again, everything turns out quite differently than expected and Dave ... Dave no longer understands the (art) world ...

A crisp, hilarious and inspiring monologue about art, artistic freedom and its limits, enriched in typical Nick Hornby style with absurdly funny observations of everyday life.

Part of the proceeds from the theater performance will go to the Treehouse Trust, London, a foundation to support autistic children, of which Nick Hornby is a co-founder. www.treehouseschool.org.uk
